First in series of winter storms causes traffic crashes and small mudflows in Southern California

Though the storms aren’t expected to be as extreme as the one which unleashed devastating mudslides in Montecito in 2017, killing 23 individuals and destroying one hundred thirty houses, officials warned that deadly flows of mud and debris can nonetheless happen, even in a comparatively milder storm. A burst of rain over a small geographic space could possibly be lethal.
