MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The search is on for a new Montgomery public schools interim superintendent, but some aren’t so happy about it.

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding the board’s decision to hire a new MPS interim superintendent. It would mean more money coming out of the MPS budget and whoever is selected will still have to answer to the state.

Another concern, there are only two candidates to choose from.

According to board Vice-President, Dr. Lesa Keith, the board members voted 6-1 to select an interim superintendent a week ago. She said she was the only member to vote against it.

Members of the Montgomery County Board of Education are interviewing candidates to serve as interim superintendent for the system. A vote is expected as well.
